M1 Garand by CMP

Talladega Marksmanship Park > M1 Garand by CMP

The Civilian Marksmanship Program (CMP) has once again captured the attention of the shooting and collecting world with its latest offering: the M1 Garand by CMP. This rifle is more than a revival; it’s a respectful reimagining of one of the most iconic military rifles of the 20th century, engineered for today’s marksman.

Offered in both the original .30-06 Springfield and the versatile .308 Winchester, this new production Garand bridges historical authenticity with modern reliability. The .30-06 version honors the spirit of the original U.S. service rifle, a warhorse revered by veterans and collectors alike. For shooters preferring the flatter trajectory and broader ammo availability of the .308, CMP has provided a thoughtfully chambered alternative without compromising the rifle’s soul.

Built from surplus and new commercial components, the M1 Garand by CMP is crafted with precision and pride in the USA. The receiver is forged and finished to exacting standards, marked with a new CMP crest, subtly differentiating it from surplus rifles while preserving the Garand’s timeless aesthetic. The walnut stocks are rich and smooth, echoing the classic lines that made the rifle a visual icon of World War II and Korea.

Internally, the rifle retains the original gas-operated, rotating bolt action design John Garand perfected. However, CMP’s modern metallurgy and machining use ensures tight tolerances and maintains your expected durability. These rifles are designed for the range and competition and are equally suited for high-power matches or the mantel of a discerning collector.

Both variants maintain the signature eight-round en bloc clip system, with its unmistakable “ping” after the last round. A sound that still echoes in the collective memory of American marksmanship.

Availability through CMP will currently be limited, and demand is expected to be high. Each rifle comes with a certificate of authenticity and access to the same legendary support network that has served the marksmanship community for decades. Commercial rifles are exempt from the twelve per year limit (the limit applies only to surplus rifles).
